Greenshot - Silent Install Switch

The hand-curated silent install command for Greenshot on Windows - for unattended, quiet, fleet-wide deploys. Copy, paste, ship - smoke-test in a throwaway VM first.

Silent install command

installer.exe /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART /ALLUSERS

Replace installer.exe with the actual installer filename (or its full path).

Notes & gotchas

Inno Setup, and /VERYSILENT alone is NOT enough. The installer shows a "Select Setup Install Mode" dialog that no /SILENT flag suppresses - without /ALLUSERS it hangs forever under a deployment tool (session 0 has nobody to click it). Also: the silent install OPENS THE GREENSHOT WEBSITE in a browser when it finishes and there is no switch to stop it, confirmed by the maintainers. Add /MERGETASKS="!startup" to skip the run-at-startup entry. No uninstall string is published: the vendor-registered unins000.exe /SILENT hung indefinitely as SYSTEM in testing, and a hanging uninstall is worse than none.

Detection path

A file whose presence proves Greenshot is installed - handy as an Intune / RMM detection rule:

C:\Program Files\Greenshot\Greenshot.exe
