CVE-2026-121603

Medium CVSS 6.5

Published 2026-11-03 ยท last changed 2026-11-03

The fix

We hold no Microsoft remediation data for CVE-2026-121603, which normally means it is not a Windows CVE. For non-Microsoft software the fix is the vendor's own updated release, and the affected versions are listed below.

What it is

Solanum before commit 2ea1382 contains a buffer overflow vulnerability in ms_kill() that allows malicious linked servers to corrupt memory by sending an overlong kill reason. Attackers controlling a rogue or compromised peer server can send a reason exceeding KILLLEN that overflows a static 512-byte buffer, crashing the ircd or potentially achieving remote code execution.
