Low CVSS 2.1Published 1999-09-05 ยท last changed 2026-06-16
The fix
We hold no Microsoft remediation data for CVE-2000-0489, which normally means it is not a Windows CVE. For non-Microsoft software the fix is the vendor's own updated release, and the affected versions are listed below.
What it is
FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD allow an attacker to cause a denial of service by creating a large number of socket pairs using the socketpair function, setting a large buffer size via setsockopt, then writing large buffers.
